Nearly 70% of North Carolina high school seniors have had sex. Fewer than half of those students used a condom the last time.

From “the talk” to school to the media to peers – teens get information about sex from a variety of places. Our goal is to make sure that youth get the very best information at home and an effective education in school that they have the skills, knowledge, and values they need to be healthy for the rest of their lives. This is the single best way we can prevent teen pregnancy.

To facilitate better education we:
  • Work with school systems, the Department of Public Instruction and legislators to ensure that students receive effective sexuality education.
  • Train health educators and community groups in evidence-based curricula and programs.
  • Provide a library of resources for any North Carolinian who wants to use it.
  • Help parents teach their children about sexual health and healthy lifestyles.
