Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Campaign of NC

About

The Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Campaign of North Carolina (APPCNC) is North Carolina’s only statewide nonprofit dedicated to preventing adolescent pregnancy.

For more than 25 years, we have been working to help communities prevent adolescent pregnancy through a combination of advocacy, collaboration, and education.

But our work is about more than just making sure a girl gets to age 20 before getting pregnant. We work to address root causes of teen pregnancy by bolstering the systems that have the greatest impact: education, health care, and family and community support.

We believe:

  • That using proven, evidence-based or evidence-informed strategies is the best way to create real, positive change
  • That the skills it takes to avoid getting pregnant or causing a pregnancy are important life skills that build healthy people, healthy communities, and a healthy state
  • That preventing pregnancy offers room for common ground. It is not a partisan issue, nor should it be treated as a controversial one
  • That the financial and human impacts of teen pregnancy are too costly to ignore

Like many of our Southern neighbors, North Carolina has a history of high teen pregnancy rates. But it's getting better! Because of our work and the work of our countless partners, North Carolina’s teen pregnancy rate is more than 50% lower than it was in 1990.

We hope you'll stand with us!
